The firestopping putty shall be a one-part, two-stage intumescent, non-hardening compound. These pads also provide a metered method of application when sealing through-penetrations and in some applications, are used to provide a cushion to allow movement due to settling, expansion and contraction, or vibration. SpecSeal Putty Pads are used to seal around electrical boxes to reduce sound transmission (see Technical Update) and increase fire resistance. SpecSeal SSP Putty and Putty Pads are used to seal through-penetrations as well as construction gaps and blank openings. Versatile performer for a wide range of complex applications.Chemical adhesion reduces the need for expensive and time consuming concrete fasteners.Red color for easy identification and inspection.Wide range of application - includes aluminum cable tray.Economical - highest yield per pound means lower installed cost.Light weight - less forming and support required. When applied with outlet boxes, SSP Putty easily works into voids and seams forming a continuous seal against fire and the products of combustion. SSP Putty is non-hardening and easily hand works around grouped cabling penetrations forming a re-enterable seal allowing for future work. R391 compound is coloured reddish brown and has an unlimited shelf life under normal conditions of wrapping and storage.SpecSeal SSP Firestop Putty excels at sealing cabling penetrations and outlet boxes. R391 can be used to seal cable ends or cable entries to enclosures. It has no deleterious effect on metals and plastics or on natural rubber, synthetic rubber, PVC or other cable materials. The compound is highly resistant to water permeation, acids and alkalis in liquid or vapour form under normal conditions. Prysmian Weatherproof Plastic Compound R391 consists of an inert filler dispersed in a plastic base - R391 is not resistant to oils, aromatics or aliphatic hydrocarbons. The material does not liberate toxic fumes even if overheated and is harmless to the hands. The compound is non-hardening and so can be readily moved and replaced for maintenance purposes. Exposure to sunlight may cause a slight skin hardening which does not affect the mass, and which can easily be removed by working in the hand. R391 does not harden on exposure to air or sunlight and does not shrink crack or peel. Prysmian Weatherproof Plastic Compound R391 is soft enough to be readily moulded around terminals or intricate contours or pressed into cavities - it is not sticky but has good adhesion to moulded plastic and other surfaces to resist the dislodging effects of vibration and to prevent moisture creeping along the interface. R391 compound can be also used for many non-electrical applications whenever a reliable non-hardening moisture or water seal is required. Prysmian Weatherproof Plastic Compound R391 prevents electrical leakage or short circuits due to dampness - it prevents corrosion of electrical contacts in industrial atmospheres and seals irregular openings, cable entries, screw threads and covers of electrical equipment. Prysmian R391 weatherproof plastic compound is used to protect electrical connections from moisture and corrosive vapours - Prysmian Components R391 is a non-hardening plastic waterproof sealant with the consistency of putty and good insulating properties.
